Marquette's Upper Harbor is a very busy shipping port for iron ore, and receiving port for coal.
The LS & I oredock ships out iron ore from the Empire & Tilden mines. The major destinations are Rouge Steel
in Dearborn, Algoma Steel in Sault Ste. Marie, and the Ashtabula, Ohio ore docks.
Coal comes in for Wisconsin Energies power plant, and is unloaded into a ship-to-shore conveyor adjacent to the ore dock.
Occassional loads of coke and limestone come in as well.
The LS & I owns the "merchandise" dock, north of the ore dock. Gallagher Construction's tug BEE JAY and a dredge
barge tie-up here year-round, and other visiting tugs sometimes tie-up here.

The PRESQUE ISLE is set to make a rare visit to Marquette Saturday night, becoming the first footer to load at the LS
& I oredock in a few years.

On Sunday 6/12, the JOHN J. BOLAND loaded iron ore at the LS & I oredock. The MESABI MINER brought a load of coal
into Wisconsin Energies, from an Ohio port.
On Monday 6/13, the HERBERT C. JACKSON and PATHFINDER both loaded iron ore at the LS & I oredock for Severstal Steel
in Detroit. The MICHIPICOTEN loaded iron ore at the LS & I oredock for Algoma Steel in Sault Ste. Marie.
On Wednesday 6/15, the CHARLES M. BEEGHLY brought a load of coal into WE from the CSX dock in Toledo probably. The LEE
A. TREGURTHA loaded iron ore at the LS & I oredock for Severstal Steel. The MICHIPICOTEN loaded iron ore at the LS &
I oredock for Algoma Steel. The GREAT LAKES TRADER also loaded iron ore at the LS & I oredock.
On Friday 6/17, the HERBERT C. JACKSON loaded iron ore at the LS & I oredock for Severstal Steel.
On Saturday 6/18, the MONTREALIS loaded iron ore at the LS & I oredock for Stelco Steel in Hamilton, Ont.
On Sunday 6/19, the KAYE E. BARKER brought a load of coal into WE, probably from the CSX dock in Toledo, then loaded iron
ore at the LS & I oredock for Severstal Steel.
On Monday 6/20, the ADAM E. CORNELIUS loaded iron ore at the LS & I oredock.
