The E & LS main lines run from:
Wells line: Wells (Escanaba)-Channing
Republic line: Channing-Republic
Green Bay line: Channing-Green Bay
O & B line: Channing-Ontonogan
branch lines run from:
M & M line: Crivitz-Marinette
Oconto Falls line: Stiles-Oconto Falls
Escanaba branch: N. Escanaba-Escanaba
Nestoria line: Sidnaw-Nestoria
The E & LS and WC share ownership of the Menominee branch and yard/terminal trackage, in Menominee. The E & LS
has trackage rights and switching rights over the WC's Marinette branch as well.
The E & LS has bases their Green Bay operations out of WC's N. Green Bay yard, so has rights into that yard. They
have trackage rights over the WC Marinette sub from: N. Green Bay-Howard, Marinette-Menominee, and Powers-N. Escanaba. They
have trackage rights over the WC Bradley sub from Pembine-Hermansville, and the WC Iron Mountain sub from Hermansville-Powers.
These rights allow them to access N. Green Bay yard; access the jointly owned yard & terminal trackage in Menominee;
and run trains over the WC from Pembine-Escababa. (The Wells line is impassable in the middle, so these rights are necessary
to access Escanaba area trackage.)
The WC has tracjage rights over the E & LS as well, although they are unused. This is about 1.5 miles in Iron Mountain
from the interchange with the WC Iron Mountain sub on the east side of town to the isolated WC Antoine yard lead on the west
side of town. Antoine yard is not used.
E & LS yards are located at: Wells, N. Escanaba, Channing, Iron Mountain, Kingsford, Pembine, Crivitz, Marinette,
Menominee, and Ontonogan.
The shops in Wells are over 90 years old, and probably the last roundhouse in the U.P. The cars shops, on the north side
of the building, are used only for storage now, but the steam-era roundhouse to the south side is still in use.
There is a modern paint-shop at Wells, and a large, modern, car repair shop in Escanaba at the old P & H plant. Smaller
enginehouses are located at Channing & Menominee.
